Our Screening Policy

Our Commitments to all Veterans and the Community.

All residents must be DD214 Verifiable. The only exceptions are the spouses of homeless Vets , and our licensed Florida Security Guard who helps with the facility Security and Safety.

We were recently asked questions about our screening policy..The Mission in Citrus uses the Citrus County Sheriffs website, the sex offenders database, and also sends updated rosters to the sexual predator unit and many others. The Mission in Citrus has never had an arrest other than child support ,since it's founding in 2008. Child molesters , those who have committed crimes against the elderly, or any other violent offender will never stay at any of our shelters. Our commitment to the community is for their safety as well as ours.

We screen for drugs and alcohol if needed..It is not mandatory. If we suspect abuse..We take action.

We will not punish or give a hard time, the Vet who likes to go out and have a couple drinks with his lunch.. We have several that do so, and have never had a problem. We do not allow alcohol on the premises, as we are helping those who have problems with alcohol. All residents respect the policy.

We do not have security cameras , breathalyzers etc. They are Vets who have fallen on hard times , or who have problems..Not criminals.

We encourage church.. We do not force it. Our residents attend many different churches on their own.

Our commitment to the military and former Veterans is to give them the best we can.
